not a day off…but im still ferris bueller.

He was a perfect teen fantasy: the coolest kid in school who also happened to be the nicest and the smartest — not to mention the best-dressed. But even a well-adjusted kid like Ferris needed to break the rules sometimes. His exploits during one action-packed ditch day made him a legend — and raised the game of hooky to an art form.

When Ferris takes the day off, so must his best friends, Cameron and Sloane. Cameron is reluctantly persuaded to borrow his father’s Ferrari, and together they hatch a plan to get Sloane out of class. Suspicious dean of students Ed Rooney knows all about Ferris, but can never catch him. Ferris’ sister Jeanie is also frustrated that Ferris always gets away with his tricks and she doesn’t. Furthermore, Ferris is an ‘angel’ in his parents eyes. It’s Ferris’ day off, he’s out to enjoy himself, and he does..

Ferris Bueller has played hooky numbers of times, and this time he’s got the entire school and more believing he is on the verge of death. On this special day off, Ferris invites his friend Cameron Fry and girlfriend Sloane Peterson to his day of fun, while taking Cameron’s father’s precious Ferrari for transportation. All the while, the principal Ed Rooney is determined to prove Ferris is faking his illness and Ferris’s agitated sister Jeanie also has a goal to catch Ferris off guard. Ferris enjoys his day with his friends, until the mileage of the Ferrari reads one too many miles driven and Cameron has a blow out.

the battle between love and hate.

Love and hate can mean so many different things, but to me love and hate means a battle between good and evil. We all have this battle. I came across this philosophy while i was looking for a design reference for the winter collection. YOU MIGHT SEE A REFERENCE FROM THIS T SHIRT THAT RADIO RAHEEM HAS ON.To be honest, i was blind to the story behind this photo you see above. A regular mind would look at the photo below and see a person with four-fingered rings on that says,” LOVE and HATE “. A deep mind would look at this photo and see a story that is so in depth that person wouldn’t believe it theirselves. But at the end of the day, it’s true. It’s just told through human hands. How do you look at it?..

It took me a while to read between the lines of these four-fingered rings, but i got the story. Here it goes: the story behind these rings are simple, Love is in the right hand. Hate is in the left hand. Is this why we give right hand shakes? if so, beware of the left hand ones. Let me get more in-depth with this philosophy. in life its always a struggle to fight off the evil. One hand is steadily fighting the other, which causes static. this is the philosphy of life. Life is so cool to me, because it’s so much that you can find out about it. A journey of knowledge. Like different theories; however you look at life determines your future. You also can learn that life is a mind thing,  how you play it in your mind is how you live it. I leave you with a quote from the movie:

“Let me tell you the story of “Right Hand, Left Hand.” It’s a tale of good and evil. Hate: It was with this hand that Cane iced his brother. Love: These five fingers, they go straight to the soul of man. The right hand: the hand of love. The story of life is this: Static. One hand is always fighting the other hand; and the left hand is kicking much ass. I mean, it looks like the right hand, Love, is finished. But, hold on, stop the presses, the right hand is coming back. Yeah, he got the left hand on the ropes, now, that’s right. Ooh, it’s the devastating right and Hate is hurt, he’s down. Left-Hand Hate K.O.ed by Love.”

– Radio Raheem, from Spike Lee’s classic “Do The Right Thing”

*Im not here to categorize you, im just here to help you look into things instead of just looking  at them.Everything you see has a meaning behind them. Life. People. Pictures. This computer screen you’re looking at, as some sort of story/message behind it.

Thank you,

” those hoop dreams was only live for a minute.”

(To the loyal reader that read this, I didnt even want to wake up this morning. I was having a classic dream of me being in some sort of magazine showcasing my clothing line. Is it a sign from God, the higher power?.. Hope it is. Ima work towards this.)

To be honest, I wanted to do another post instead of this one but, I couldnt find any good pictures of the movie, Above the Rim.So this movie you see below is a fill-in, but it stills does the job for me. Two reasons why im doing this; getting into the mindset for the fall/winter collection, and it brings back memories on what me and friends use to do and just started back doing. Playing basketball.

Growing up, basketball was the biggest part of my life. The first time I was introduced to that circular object and the love for the game was at 2 years old by my mother. ( Hold on for a minute, thoughts and emotions are running through me right now, not to sound soft. ) After this small introduction i fell in love with it. My mother saw something in me at a early age that i couldnt see my self, that i had skills. by this, she made it her duty to make me this best around. Camps. Her own team. Put me on the best teams. Had me around other good players. She played me 1 on 1. Things that a good mother should do, since i didnt have a father to do this with. There’s no hard feelings or tears for this, everything happens for a reason. Gave me a chance to be my own man. Getting into the mind frame of a basketball player later came the next level. The 96′ 3 on 3 basketball tournments of downtown little rock called, HoopFest. Hoopfest use to be popping! If you participated you know what i mean! But, yeah. Where do I start from? It was like a feeling, more like a vibe of the whole atmosphere. Best of the best. Original Jordans. Hoopfest tank tops. Basketball shorts. Sun. And 6 people playing for bragging rights, and trophies. Just Like in White Men Can’t Jump. (Why doesn’t arkansas do anything like this anymore, really do anything anymore?)

The last level was AAU. I played for my uncle “Turk” from the Bronx basketball team. The Rockets. Oh man, this is an experience that could never slip my thoughts. These were the best times in my life. The team i was on we all had chemistry on the court, we knew each others weakness and Strong’s on the court making us succeed in all the national tournaments. Straying away from the more serious approach. The fun times we had were mostly on the van, traveling and when we were in the hotels. We where in Kansas right and we had a game in the morning i think ,but we decided to sneak and goto the pool downstairs to meet these girls that we meet in the lobby earlier that day. Coach was waiting on us in the gym the next morning, ready to run us! After my uncle/coach died, basketball seem to had left my soul at the time. I gave up. He taught me the real game of basketball, the art of it. Felt like it was nothing after this, like it was no point now. A good dude.. For some unknown reason, recently basketball has came back into my life. This is what was missing out of my life. Im complete now, like happier now.. just feel good in my skin. Who is responsible for this?..

Now, for the second part. Fall inspiration.

White men cant jump, to me was the most classic basketball movie other than Above the Rim. It catches the whole feel of what i stated about the 96′ hoopfest. And its giving me inspiration for the fall collection im designing. I havent really decided on what ima do, as of know. But, i can tell you this though, im getting my whole design mind frame the 90’s culture. Movies. music. Art. Starter jackets. Jordans. The reason why im doing this mind frame is because i was talking with the owner of rock city kicks sneaker boutique, he said i could be in his store if i bring him 4 new designs. So im taking risk to bring you the fall collection. Good things coming your way. Stay tune..

a diamond that drips blood.

Blood Diamond. I almost forgot about this movie. When I first saw this movie it touched my soul..enough for me to write about it. When seeing this movie it changed my perspective on the whole ” Bling Bling ” persona, because now a days the world is based on material things( and that is sad ), including diamonds. Let me see how I can put this, its like we wear the fancy jewels but we dont know what it took to get those diamonds.. people have slaved for those diamonds and paid a small amount for digging them up. I dont blame the man below for stealing that pink diamond.

In 1999, in Sierra Leone, the fisherman Solomon Vandy dreams on the day that his young son Dia Vandy will become a doctor. His dreams are shattered when the rebels invade his village and kidnap him to work in the diamond mines. Solomon finds a huge pink diamond and while hiding it, the commandant of the rebels sees, but the rebels are attacked and Salomon is arrested by the government army. While in jail, the wounded commandant tell the prisoners that Salomon found the stone, and the mercenary smuggler Danny Archer from Zimbabwe releases Salomon and proposes to exchange the diamond by his missing family. Using the idealistic American journalist Maddy Bowen, Danny locates the wife and daughters of Salomon in a refugee camp, but is informed that his son has been recruited by the rebels. Salomon and Danny consolidate a partnership, with Salomon looking for and finding his son, and Danny looking for the diamond and finding redemption.

Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio), an Anglo ex-mercenary from Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), trades arms for diamonds with an RUF commander. He is imprisoned after being caught smuggling the diamonds into neighboring Liberia, and the diamonds are confiscated. Archer and Solomon find their way to Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist, who helps Solomon track down his family. Bowen soon learns that Archer is using Solomon to find his diamond and will eventually steal it for himself, to leave Africa forever. Bowen, a humanitarian, refuses to help Archer unless he can tell her about the diamond market to stop the flow of blood diamonds out of Africa, cutting off funding for Civil War and ending a mass revolution. The convoy is attacked and Archer, Solomon and Bowen escape and find their way to the South African mercenary force under Colonel Coetzee. There they learn of the attack force preparing to retake Sierra Leone — a reference to the actual 1995 hiring of South African security firm Executive Outcomes by the provisional government of Sierra Leone. The two men leave the camp on foot while Bowen boards a plane carrying foreigners out of the conflict zone. With the help of Bowen, Solomon trades the diamond to Simmons for a large sum of money and the reunification of his family, making the exchange as Solomon’s wife and children deplane from a Lear Jet at a London airport. Bowen, who secretly photographs the deal, later publishes a magazine piece exposing the trade in “conflict” or “blood” diamonds.

Thank you

working hard or hardly working?..

I will choose the first one. I have been working extremely hard these last few months.. I’m not complaining at all because when you work hard for something for so long, you can enjoy the rewards that come after that work and truly cherish them. The thing I have been working so hard for is my brand.. I have had; setbacks, detours, and days were I wanted to give up, but I’m here today to tell you, I didn’t give up and nor will I. By saying this, THE SUPREME TOUR GARMENTS ARE AROUND THE CORNER! The reason why I’m writing this post is to let you know what I have been up to and why you haven’t seen daily post for me.I know this blog is about me and my life but, I don’t want to overload it with post just about me.

So, on that note while finishing some last minute designs, I decided to take a break and scroll threw a few blogs, and ran across a trailer preview of this classic movie, the new and improved Transformers 2. I must say, the preview caught my attention for a couple minutes, stopping my designing process and all!

What caught my artistic eye was how this movie is put together. Like how do you capture big machines like that? It has to be computer animated or something! But, overall I think this one out did the first.

More post to come,

culture at its finest.

“Coming to America”, is the most classic movie around today.. the above title says it all. This piece of art captures the African culture at its best, and I cant forget the New York feel also. Whoever directed this movie had a good focus on where he wanted to go with it by mixing African culture and the New York culture as one. I can remember back when i first was introduced to this motion picture, i really didnt understand this movie to its full deep-ness( I hope thats a word! ).. the story of the movie, rather.

The deep-ness of the story is basicly about, Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) is pushed to have an arranged marriage by the laws of his country Zamunda. But, he has other plans, to find his soul mate. So, his father allows him and his friend”babysitter” Simi (Arsenio Hall) to set out to New York to find Prince Akeem a wife.

This fantastical fairy tale stars Eddie Murphy as Prince Akeem, a pampered African prince who is yearning to be self-sufficient in his extremely opulent society, where his every whim is catered to. When Akeem turns 21 he defies the wishes of his kingdom and refuses to marry the beautiful bride who has been chosen for him. Instead, he sets out for America to find true love with his trusty sidekick.

Determined to appear common, the pair arrive in Queens, New York, and quickly have to adapt to a world where they are no longer royalty and can’t seem to find a modern woman who suits the prince’s tastes–until he meets Lisa McDowell (Shari Headley), the lovely daughter of Cleo McDowell (John Amos), who owns McDowell’s restaurant, a fast-food restaurant suspiciously like McDonald’s. Akeem and Semmi get jobs at McDowell’s and set about charming the unsuspecting Lisa. As the romance blossoms, Akeem has an increasingly difficult time hiding his true identity, especially when his royal parents (James Earl Jones and Madge Sinclair) and their entourage arrive in New York, eager to return their only heir to Africa.
